Yes, I need the large print edition. The pew copies are just too hard to read with the standing, kneeling and sitting. Most important though, is the page numbers match, so it's easy to use this book during services.

This is a large print paperback version which makes it easy to read, though not very portable. It is good for home use though not for travel. Of course the text is the traditional pre1979 version which I prefer.

I love reading the lovely words. I think I will have to buy the book also. Need it to be with n my hands.

I bought this for my mother who has MD. She reads her prayer book every night. She had been reading the same prayer book she had as a child, a palm size leather-bound book with print so small she had to read with a magnifying glass. This large print edition was perfect and, to the best of my ability to compare, exactly like the smaller 70 year old version. She no longer needs the magnifying glass.

It's all there, but hard to find. This was one of the first books I bought with my Kindle, but I found that reference books that are not meant to be read pages in sequence cover to cover, do not lend themselves to this format. I would like to have had a searchable index in order to key into specific rites and prayers. Even a page reference from the paper version would have been good.

Well, I can't rate the BCP anything but positive. My only concern was I failed to read the size of the book and it was smaller then I would have liked, the pages are thin, but at the same time feel very "strong." It has the Daily Office and the complete Psalter. If only I had read the dimensions, I am sure I would have opted for a larger addition. If you don't have problems with smaller print, then by all means purchase this copy, you can't be the price. Also the binding it very good, the book while small, lays flat, whch is a really nice in a hardcover book of this size.

I am an inquirer in the Anglican Church, and thrilled to at last own a copy of the Book of Common Prayer. I was initially attracted to this version by its vivid cover. Upon delivery, the book was in pristine condition and much bigger than I anticipated. I admittedly ordered this book on impulse, and had not looked closely enough to notice that it is the 1912 edition, and contains ceremonies and liturgy pertaining to the Church of England as well as the Scottish Episcopal Church.The language is eloquent and graceful, and I was especially moved by the Catechism. I would recommend this for anyone within or interested in the Anglican Church, or any Christian for that matter.

An excellent guide to the wargaming scene at that time. If you're into older wargames or want to write one in that style, this is a good book to have.

Up to his usual standards! Chock full of interesting tidbits for the Amateur and more ambitious gamer. If you want a Government job Gaming, you had better read all of his works.

Purchase was no problems. Book was really outdated.

James Dunnigan's book has spanned decades. For me now, a good memories trip.

I first purchased this book as a reference guide for making my own wargame, but I ended up just reading it cover to cover. Now granted this book is a bit dated, but It's still a nice trip through the early to mid years of tabletop/pc wargaming.

Having been interested in wargames and their design for years, I picked up this book as a sort of historical reference. I was first introduced to Mr. Dunnigan's work via his Kampf pamphlets which published revised orders of battle for Avalon Hill (AH) wargames. From there he designed two games (Jutland and 1914) for AH, then took over Strategy & Tactics magazine as SPI and began inundating the market with wargames along the AH format (map with hexes, Order of Battle, Combat Results Table, combat unit counters and, of course, rule set). This format varied little and, to me represented the production line wargame as opposed to the more hand-crafted variety. The section on history of wargaming was very brief on history and seemed to spend most of it's time talking about SPI's activities. I've seen many different formats for wargames which showed creativity apart from AH's winning formula (e.g., Phillip Orbane's Gamescience Corp's Vietnam and Confrontation, or some of the ones produced by Rand Game Associates (also influenced by Orbanes), or Roger Cormier's Trafalgar, or Lou Zocchi's Battle of Britain, or Alfred Leonardi's Ace of Aces). There can be a lot more to game design then just the AH format. Wargames can be interesting to play as well as instructive. However, if one chooses to open up the possibilities of form and function, I believe additional insight can be realized of the where, how and why battles and wars occurred the way they did. This book does not choose this path, hence my title for this review.

The book has some interesting details about the Latin terms in gardening. The articles on plantsmen are intriguing.I was disappointed that only descriptive terms are included, not plant names themselves. For example, Papaver rhoeas is illustrated on page 177. The term, rhoeas, is defined as ancient Greek, name for Papaver rhoeas. Nothing more. The Latin term, Papaver, is not defined.Overall, it isn't the content expected based on the title and subtitle.

I bought this for a woman who loves nature, enjoys gardening and has a ridiculous grasp of Latin etymology for plants, animal species..."SAT words" in general. Obviously this tome was right up her alley. I believe many a curious plant lover would find this beautifully cloth-bound reference book a joy to own. That being said, as a book lover (not a Latin or plant person per se), I was disappointed that there weren't more illustrations or even botany based art work from Flemish masters to complement the richness of nomenclature being explored. My critiques essentially wishes that a different book had been written so it could be dismissed as unfair. Still, when describing the world of flowers with an enraptured audience, why so stingy with visual lushness?

I have been an avid hobby gardener for a few years now but can never remember the names of plants. I decided that it might be fun to learn the latin names but felt intimidated because I have a terrible memory for names. This book is excellent. I love it. It not only tells you the latin names but explains the origin of the genus or species name. This makes it easier for me to remember because often the names are related to a characteristic, color or country of origin of the plant. The drawings are beautiful as well and the overall look and feel of the book makes me feel like I'm referencing an old text. Great addition to my gardening book library.

There were many aspects of the book that I really liiked: The illustrations were lovely, the text was well written and interesting, with a variety of different topics from biograhical info to the meaning of specific qualities of plants.The book was lovelhy to look at, but very difficult to read.The paper was beige-grey, the color of an old botanical print and the type was small and not dark enouiogh to stand out aganist the dark background color.Each word being defined was printed in a green-grey type, then the pronumciation spelled out phonetically (a good thing) but then the defination was printed in script the size of the tlelephone booK!

I've always gardened as a hobby. But, after being involved in an unfortunate accident that left me disabled and unemployed, gardening has become not only a stress-reliever and a form of low-impact physical therapy, but also a potential avenue of future self-employment. Having a deeper knowledge of the plants I grow will definitely help with my success and integrity in this field. Latin for Gardeners is a GREAT resource to understanding the culture of various plants, the origins of their descriptive names, and often their significance in history, botany, religion, and medicine. This is a "must-have" for professional gardeners, university botany majors, and even the curious home gardener. Get your hands on this book...ASAP!!!

Helpful in differentiating Latin for my studies in horticulture. However, the print is quite small but, for the amount of information and the smaller size of the book it is warranted. There are pictures/drawings in color and every so many pages there is a biography of a contributer to plant name and discovery and the like.

gave this as a gift to my daughter who is a professional gardener and she's getting miles out of it :-)

So you want to go to the BVi and climb. This book will help save your time so you can spend your time on the Rock and not getting lost in the jungle. This book does a great job with maps, full color pictures, tourist activities and restaurants/shopping. It's practically a guide that can go along way NOT just for climbing. The author has done a great job capturing the beauty of the BVI and his knowledge is endless. If you are traveling to the BVI to Boulder don't hesitate to buy this book! It's worth more than a computer or phone on the island!

This is the penultimate guide book if you're being dragged into a Virgin Gorda bouldering expedition with your wife. I'll be the spotter and am very glad to be sharing the duty with a bunch of water. I won't feel so bad about tending my margaritas as she climbs... Woo hoo!

This is a very well-written guide for the Virgin Gorda boulders our family has known so well since 1980! This is a Christmas gift for my son who is an experienced climber and LOVES the challenge of bouldering in Virgin Gorda whenever he comes to our home in Virgin Gorda. I can also now recommend this book to my villa guests. Several stay at my villa each year and ask me about the technical aspects of climbing the boulders. The detail is in this book is excellent. I will add a copy to our "Virgin Gorda" library at the villa and keep one here at my office here in Massachusetts to refer to when guests ask me questions about bouldering in advance of their stay.

A must buy for any climber visiting the island.

Good Guide

Many bouldering guides give you just enough information to get lost, or contain hundreds of action photos and weigh ~30 pounds. This guidebook tells you everything you need to know- you will get to the desired area easily. You will easily find the classics (and the more obscure lines, which are most of the time very good) while being a pleasant, small book to travel with. The other information about the island of Virgin Gorda and surrounding Islands is fascinating and helpful- I've been 3 times now and during the travel I am equally panic-stricken at the thought of forgetting my passport, or my Virgin Gorda guidebook.

Are you kidding?!?! This book is written by the man, the myth, the legend Rich Crowder. First off, he's a professional photographer so you know the photos are the best quality, give you exact direction of where you need to go,etc. Also, his extensive time in the islands growing up and more give insightful information about the surrounding areas. One of the best bouldering guides around and even if you never physically take it to the crag, it's a gorgeous coffee table book
