We DO NEED TO FIND A WAY TO SURVIVE Obamacare. My husband and I have had insurance through our workplaces. I became disabled and now have Medicare, plus 2 supplementals. In 2014 we paid $14,000 out of pocket because I take biologic medications, and because we pay huge costs TO Medicare, TO Plan F, and TO Plan D for my medications, plus the copays for my meds. Big Pharma gets most of our money. I'm not heartless, and I know some people can't get jobs that cover insurance. However, Emergency Departments are, by law, required to care for people without insurance, whether it's for a cold or a heart attack. ALOT of middle class people don't have that option. Taxpayers cover all healthcare costs for everyone. The solutions are myriad-cut Pharma costs, get rid of lawyers who sue doctors and nurses for things they (MDs, RNs) have no control over, have a reason for ordering tests besides doing it to CYA. Investigate fraud which costs billions. And more and more like these solutions. Obamacare has COST America untold billions, has torn patients away from the doctors who know them. Please read this book whether you are for or against Obamacare. Forgive me for my lecture, but please learn how much this program is destroying our nation,
It's OK and somewhat helpful. I would say for someone who knows absolutely NOTHING about ObamaCare, it might be useful. However, ObamaCare changes daily it seems so who knows if it's actually still current or not. Personally, I don't think it's possible to survive ObamaCare. I think we are doomed to the very inferior socialized medicine plan now and I think we might be beyond the tipping point. Not sure there's any turning back. Oh, how I wish it would be totally repealed. I hope younger people totally rebel against it and just flat out do NOT sign up for it. The burden is on their backs to pay for it for all the people who are too lazy to work for their own benefits. It will totally bankrupt this country but, of course, that's the intended plan for it anyway.
I have not finished reading the book yet, but I like what I have read so far. Being a senior and being locked in to medicare, I am quite concerned withe radical cuts Oboma and his cronies have in mind. They would cut my and my wife's benefits significantly over a five year period, not ten years as the author suggests. I am already having cuts to my medicare insurance part D provider. I received a letter yesterday telling me that medicare is awarding the diabetes supplies to bidders and my company opted out of the bidding for financial reasons, so I will no longer receive my testing supplies from them. I will now have to buy my testing supplies from a retail pharmacy. So look out people, more cuts are on the way that will affect everybody to some extent. The Democrats have screwed the American people again, but they apparently had several million people who know nothing about making intelligent decisions and voting for the good guy. The book seems to do a good job explaining the Obamacare law but I believe there will be many who will not be educated enough understand it.
Nicholas Tate did a fair job of laying out the background to Obamacare. He took extreme care to steer clear of the politics of it, which was too bad, since the politics of it is why it's the way it is. Overall, the book is not chocked filled with useful information. It's a mere glossing over of the facts, which you can get by watching the news and reading the paper. It's also rather outdated now that the rollout has occurred (unsuccessfully). If you are looking at tips to beat the system, or save your insurance plan that just got cancelled, this is NOT the place for you to be doing it. Save your money. If you've been in a cave for the last five years and haven't got a clue what happened on October 1st, then you may learn something, and you should pick it up. This book certainly doesn't live up to the hype it gives itself on the TV ads on all of the news channels. Pass on this one and do a search engine search. You'll save some money and be just as far ahead.
I was hoping to extend my knowledge of the Affordable Healthcare Act which would help me help others. I just completed reading "Understanding Health Policy, Sixth Edition" which is a text book for healthcare professional. I was hoping for more specific information about the Affordable Healthcare Act. This book is about rehashing political propaganda. As a retired CPA and Auditor of Veterans Healthcare operations, I find the book misleading in several respects. ObamaCare Survival Guide
Not something I really want but I find it's necessary to own if I have to deal with bad presidential karma. I give it 5 stars also as a reminder to prepare myself for the long haul because things are getting worse. I don't like being pessimistic but I have to ask myself, are things actually getting better? What are we going to do? It's time to think.Obamacare says more than 7 million people enrolled but judging from the numbers before the deadline it seems far from the truth. Course that shouldn't fool anyone counting the number of unfulfilled promises. They say of those who signed up, less than a third have paid coverage. All the more, most people say it's too expensive or can't get proper care (something like dialysis) at a near by location.
This book and "101 ObamaCare Answers" (great explanation in an easy to comprehend format) provided the best collection of information on ObamaCare. They not only educated me on the topic but provided detailed and specific instruction on how to choose the right plan and what to expect next. Its a great value!. Nick is not afraid to take an opposing view, but more importantly clearly supports his views and explains how to protect your family from them.
