As the author of this book, I recommend against its purchase as of 2014. The book was originally published by Ancestry Publishing in 2008. Since then, Ancestry.com has added much more content but has also changed a great deal of its user interface. Ancestry Publishing sold its publishing business to Turner Publishing several years ago. That company has decided to release this book in a Kindle edition with a 2014 publication date. It contains the same material as the 2008 softcover edition, and much of that is out of date. I recommend that you not waste your money by purchasing this outdated publication. - George G. Morgan

I purchased this book and learned nothing from it that I could not find out right there on the ancestry.com website. I would never recommend it for the price they charge, not even to beginners. Anyone who has even the remotest experience with trying to create a family tree will find this book a 99% waste.

This book is good in as far as it goes.......but the most recent information was from 2008 and a there are a LOT of features and changes since then. I am surprised that they don't warn you how dated this book is and how in need of revision!A good book that describes the basics of Family Genealogy and how to use features of the website Ancestry.com but the newer features including the much more efficient SEARCH you will have to learn on your own.IT IS OVERDUE THAT THE AUTHOR PROVIDE A NEW EDITION,

the diagrams or examples were useless, so faded that you couldn't even read them so help at all, I want something that helps me, not fluster me. I was so hoping this would help me get around the sight, forget it.

The guide is a little outdated but overall it is good.

I have used this only a little. I was disappointed that I was not able to find the call center phone # in it. It also does not correspond exactly the the current version of Ancestry. However I have found it helpful. On line help is probably more current, but I like to have a book to consult. On line involves switching screens that I find to be a hassle.

Mistkenly ordered this, thinking it was the 3rd edition, of 2010, which is the one I had been waiting to have in stock for a very long time. Of what real use is this outdated "new" book??? It's like...why is is the old version even still available???? Just because it's what you've got on hand, I guess. My mistake, LOOK CAREFULLY, let the buyer beware!

The second edition of the book makes a good journeyman's guidebook, which the first edition didn't since software architecture was still a mystique. The second edition, which has been heavily revamped, makes it clear that software architecture is a mature discipline.I used the first edition, along with SEI technical papers in a graduate-level software architecture introductory course. After reading the first edition, I still wasn't sure what a software architect should do. The second edition makes it clear. I think a lot of the technical papers that I read are now chapters in the book. Some new chapters are simply great: Understanding Quality Attributes, Achieving Qualities, Designing the Architecture, Documenting Software Architectures, the ATAM, and the CBAM.I really liked the replacement of ADL with UML, the de facto standard, with all of its warts and blemishes.For criticism, this book was history as soon as it hit the presses. You'd still need to read SEI technical papers to be current. One of the chapters discusses the performance problems with remote entity beans and makes no reference to EJB 2.0 spec local entity beans with no performance hit on every cross-bean call. Likewise, the final chapter on "The Future" wasn't so bold as to prognosticate on OMG's current work on MDA, but they may be alluding to it with "Moving from architecture to code."Still more fun to read than a harlequin romance novel and readable in four days.

Purchased as a textbook for my Architectural Theory class. While very in-depth and expansive, Trachtenberg postulates opinions as fact, without a second opinion.Being a textbook, everything said is drawn out and convoluted. This has the potential to either leave the reader with a deep understanding or completely bewildered.Being an architecture student, this book is giving me a historical design base I plan to build off of for the rest of my life.

This book seems to do a good job of discussing software architecture and the tactics to deal with quality concerns (modifiability, teastability, etc). As a non-software engineer, I don't find this highly useful and would prefer if it stuck to more of a "systems" architecture focus. I do like the case studies that appear every few chapters to relate the learning to a real example.

From what I saw in Amazon's synopsis, I figured i couldn't go wrong with a photographic journal of the land, as pictures tell a thousand words.There are some spectacular photographs in this book, which convey the rich heritage of flora and fauna in this region of Africa. Its a good coffee table book, and is also good for people who have been to Africa and need a display memoir of photos of scenes that you saw but couldn't capture yourself.I was tickled pink to find pictures of places I had seen and I had even been to, like the spice merchant in Durban ,S.A who displayed varying ranges of chilli powder ending in "Mother-In-Law exterminator" as his most potent, or the multi colored changing stalls on Cape Town's beaches.Don't buy this book if you are looking for an in-depth analysis of the countries economies, and the present conditions and way of life of the ethnic people. The author devotes a few pages to a brief history of the countries, and stays away from making any socio-political comments or opinions. The book tells its story in pictures, and concentrates at times in depth on wildlife rather than landscape.I like the book, and i think I'm going to get a copy for myself! As for my colleague, i hope this convinces her to take the plunge and head for a safari in one of the most pristine corners of the world.

How would one react if society turned against you and your beliefs. What would you do? We now know how one individual reacted. His determination and courage, for me, is to be admired and emulated.

This was a real page turner. I read it in only 1 sitting. Very powerfully written and a testament to man's compassion, man's courage even after the unthinkable has happened to him. Buy it, you won't regret it.

I could not put this book down, I had heard about Night and Elie Wiesel for years, his firsthand account of the Holocaust is chilling, the things he and so many others endured is unfathomable. This should be required reading for everyone. Never again!

I couldn’t give this book anything but 5 stars. It was written with too much pain and way too much loss. This should be mandatory reading for every human being. We must never forget the damage that mans inhumanity to man can do.

A great and powerfully moving book. This edition includes Wiesel's speech after receiving the Nobel peace prize and other talks related to that event. The book also deals with the important topic of denial, which is becoming more and more of a problem as survivors die off and more and more people try to deny that the Holocaust ever happened.
